KGO Radio Host Ronn Owens Leaves Station For KSFO, Dozens Reportedly Laid Off

The news talk radio host announced Thursday that he was leaving, shortly before up to 30 newsroom employees were reportedly let go.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA- Veteran talk-show host Ronn Owens announced Thursday that he is leaving KGO and heading to KSFO, shortly before dozens were laid off at the radio station, according to SFGate.

SFGate reported that an employee called the Bay Area’s top news radio station a “bloodbath,” amongst a massive unforeseen layoff of nearly all newsroom staff.

Owens reportedly announced that he was leaving to listeners on Thursday morning, shortly before 20 to 30 employees were allegedly fired or laid off and escorted from the building.

SFGate says the station plans to air the live Sacramento talk-show team Jack Armstrong and Joe Getty after Owen leaves.
