Man Convicted Of Crosswalk Hit-And-Run Crash

The woman was left in a coma by the crash.

SAN FRANCISCO — A San Francisco driver who severely injured a woman he struck in a crosswalk last year was convicted of felony hit-and-run by a jury last Thursday.

The jury also found that when Will Thomas, 59, hit the woman, the collision involved great violence, great bodily injury or a high degree of viciousness or callousness, according to a news release from San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Thomas, who is now in custody, faces up to three years in prison when he's sentenced May 13.

"The victim was initially left in a coma as a result of this incident and has had an arduous recovery process," said Assistant District Attorney Samantha Adhikari. "Despite that, she has made progress as a result of her and her family's resilience. I hope this verdict provides them with some solace and strength as she continues to recover."
