Officers were dispatched to a call of a crash in the center divide of Interstate 280, just north of De Anza Boulevard, at around 10 p.m., when they found the man, who was the solo occupant of the vehicle, with injuries appearing to be sustained in the crash, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the agency said.

Officers were later contacted by doctors who advised them that the injuries also included a gunshot wound to the man's head, and "tragically," he was pronounced dead, officials said in a news release.
