OAKLAND, CA — Oakland is the hottest city to buy a home in California, according to GOBankingRates.

The personal finance website recently looked at median sale prices, average days for sale and number of homes sold, as well as other data from Redfin, to determine that Oakland, with a median sale price of $868,000, is the hot place to buy.

“In comparison to its neighbors, Oakland offers a more affordable housing market based on existing single-family home sales and prices," GOBankingRates reported. “Skyrocketing real estate costs, interest rates or rising home prices, in general, have prompted many to consider Oakland, where the middle class is thriving and many individuals and families can find attractive housing options without compromising on proximity to major employment centers and cultural amenities.”
