NorCal Man Accused Of Attacking Acquaintance With Hatchet
He was accused of repeatedly using the hatchet to try to strike a 24-year-old man.
STOCKTON, CA — A 57-year-old man was arrested in Stockton's Park District on Friday afternoon for allegedly attacking another man with a hatchet.
James Whatley was arrested in the 2400 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at about 3:10 p.m., according to the Stockton Police Department.
He was accused of repeatedly using the hatchet to try to strike a 24-year-old man who allegedly knew Whatley. The victim was able to defend himself.

Whatley was arrested without incident nearby after fleeing the area and is facing allegations of assault with a deadly weapon.
His bail was set at $60,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., according to jail records.
