His family says he died peacefully at 78 after earlier beating cancer but later succumbing to lung issues, and they’re asking for privacy as Dead Heads worldwide celebrate his enduring musical legacy.

Artisan food fair launches in S.F. to feed craving for unique Bay Area treats (sfchronicle.com) — A new monthly artisan food fair at The Box SF in SoMa is bringing more than 30 small-batch Bay Area food vendors under one roof, with free entry for visitors. 3. 3 hospitalized after stabbing in SF's Mission District (ktvu.com) — Three people were hospitalized after a Saturday afternoon stabbing near 16th and Mission streets in San Francisco’s Mission District, and police say no suspects are in custody yet. Officers gave medical aid before paramedics arrived, and the victims’ conditions remain unknown as SFPD continues its investigation.

Death cap mushrooms sicken 35 and kill 3 (foodpoisonjournal.com) — State health officials are warning San Franciscans and other Bay Area residents about a deadly spike in poisonings from foraged “death cap” mushrooms, which have already sickened dozens and killed three people. Authorities urge everyone to avoid wild mushroom foraging this season and to seek immediate medical help if symptoms like vomiting or severe diarrhea appear after eating mushrooms.
