📰 News we're reading

1. Protesters Arrested After Chaining Themselves To SF Immigration Court: Report (patch.com) — Downtown San Francisco saw a major immigration protest as hundreds gathered before dawn at the city’s immigration court, with more than 40 people arrested after chaining themselves together and to the courthouse entrance. The action, which shut down court proceedings for the day, drew a large federal and fire department response, with crews cutting chains and agents leading handcuffed demonstrators inside.

2. RV dwellers say S.F. homeless outreach worker is selling parking permits for hundreds in cash (missionlocal.org) — San Francisco RV residents in Bayview say a man in a city homeless outreach uniform sold them temporary parking permits for hundreds in cash, as the city’s new RV parking ban takes effect. Officials are now investigating and auditing permits, while recent towing sweeps and a looming due date for one resident’s baby highlight how easily RV dwellers could lose their homes.

3. Tesla faces 30-day car sale ban for misleading use of 'Autopilot' branding, CA DMV warns (abc7.com) — San Francisco Tesla drivers are reacting as California’s DMV gives the company 90 days to change how it markets “Autopilot” or risk a 30‑day suspension of its sales license in the state. Local owners say they like the driver-assist features but agree the branding can be confusing, while regulators argue the terms overstate how self-driving the cars really are.

4. New Bay Area hydrogen plant aims to boost clean energy supply for North Bay and state (pressdemocrat.com) — A new hydrogen project in Pittsburg could lower fuel costs for North Bay transit agencies and truck fleets, and a San Francisco-based distributor, PACC, will move the gas to regional buyers. For San Francisco residents, this could eventually mean cleaner buses and trucks serving the city and nearby counties, plus more stable hydrogen supplies across Northern California’s transportation network.

5. The ‘Zinfandel Capital Of The World' Is 1.5 Hours From San Francisco — Named One Of The ‘Best Small Towns In CA' (secretsanfrancisco.com) — If you’re looking for an easy wine-country escape from San Francisco, Lodi sits just 1.5 to 2 hours away via Highway 12 and has been dubbed the “Zinfandel Capital of the World.” The small town offers historic old-vine Zinfandel, a walkable downtown, cycling-friendly vineyard roads, and lakeside paddling, positioning itself as a more relaxed, affordable alternative to Napa or Sonoma.
