(missionlocal.org) — San Francisco’s federal court is forcing ICE to improve conditions in its local holding cells, after a judge refused to pause an order requiring better medical care and basic necessities. The ruling covers the ICE facility at 630 Sansome Street and a secondary Sacramento site, following allegations that detainees were kept for days without adequate care or supplies.
   

2. San Francisco kicks off new year with downtown block party (nbcbayarea.com) — Downtown San Francisco is keeping New Year’s energy going with the return of Downtown First Thursdays, a free monthly block party on Second Street drawing tens of thousands of people. Launched in 2024 to counter downtown’s “doom loop” narrative, organizers say the events have generated about $28 million in economic impact and are now renewed through December 2026.
   

3. Tommy Lee Jones' Daughter Victoria Found Dead at San Francisco Hotel (entertainment-mag.com) — San Francisco authorities are investigating the New Year’s Day death of Victoria Jones, daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel. Fire and police officials say she was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Medical Examiner is still determining her cause of death.
