Husband in Custody After Police Standoff, Alleged Domestic Violence Situation

San Francisco police say the Mission District standoff ended with arrest.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA- A standoff with a domestic violence suspect in San Francisco's Mission District ended this afternoon with the suspect surrendering.

Officers arrested the man at about 3:15 p.m. at his apartment building at 1803 Folsom St. The standoff started this morning when the suspect's wife went to the apartment to get her belongings.

Police Thursday issued a temporary restraining order against the husband, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. Police surrounded the apartment building on Folsom Street at 10:30 a.m. after they went there to arrest the man and he would not come out of the unit. Officers also responded to the apartment at about 5 p.m. Thursday, according to a resident of the building.

The apartment is an interior unit, Esparza said. Police asked neighbors near the unit to shelter in place, but no one else. Traffic in the area was not affected.

Original Post- San Francisco police are involved in a standoff with a domestic violence suspect at a Mission District apartment building this morning.

Police have surrounded a building at 1803 Folsom St., at the corner of 14th and Folsom streets, since about 10:30 a.m. An officer at the scene said they are waiting for a suspect to come out of the building. Another resident at the apartment building stranded outside said police had been called to the building at about 5 p.m. on Thursday.

They returned this morning to take the man into custody, but he barricaded himself in his apartment, according to police. No streets are blocked off in the area.
