NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should brace for another heat wave this week. The Bay Area and Central Coast are under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. Monday to 11 p.m. Wednesday.
"A fall heat wave kicks off today and will last for several days," NWS San Francisco forecasters wrote Monday. "A heat advisory is in effect for the entire Bay Area and Central Coast through Wednesday night. Moderate and major heat risk will likely lead to numerous heat-related impacts to those sensitive to hot weather or without access to adequate cooling."

In related news, PG&E warned about 13,455 customers in 13 counties that it may turn off power in some areas Monday due to elevated wildfire risk, the company said. The utility is monitoring forecasts for breezy offshore winds and low humidity for possible Public Safety Power Shutoffs.
In other news, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake centered near the Central Coast rattled Bay Area residents over the weekend.

One person and a dog died in an East Bay apartment complex fire, authorities said. The fire damaged four apartments and displaced 12 people.
Plus, five people were rescued from the waters off Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Rescue crews were assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard and the San Francisco Police Department's marine unit, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
