2 Rescued After Powerful Storm Topples Large Golden Gate Park Tree
The approximately 60-foot fallen tree was blocking nearly all of Fulton Street at 19th Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Firefighters rescued two people struck by a fallen tree in San Francisco’s Richmond District on Tuesday, the result of the latest in a series of powerful storms that began late last month and has pounded the region relentlessly.
The approximately 60-foot tree was blocking nearly the entirety of Fulton Street at 19th Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
The San Francisco Fire Department indicated the victims were not seriously injured.

“2 RESCUED AS TREE FELL ON A VEHICLE AT FULTON AND 19TH- VICTIMS WILL BE OKAY- AVOID AREA,” the agency tweeted.
The scene has been repeating itself over and over throughout the Bay Area in recent weeks as atmospheric river-fueled storms continue to pound the region.

There were 246 reports in connection with 311 fallen trees in San Francisco in the first six days of 2023, compared to just 27 in the first month of 2022, The San Francisco Chronicle reports, cited data from the city's 311 database.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area of Fulton Street between 14th and 20th avenues until further notice.
The storm pounded San Francisco with hail at around noon.
Rain and flooding are expected to continue at moderate levels Wednesday, before easing to minor levels forecast for every day this week through at least Monday of next week.
