Well, summer is really and truly here. School's out, highs are in the 80s, and all over the Bay Area, people are celebrating with festivals, carnivals, block parties, and even sand castle making competitions. Here are a few uplifting stories from around the region:
Toy Giveaway Planned In San Leandro

- Amazon Future Engineer awarded hundreds of students with 4-year scholarships up to $40,000 and paid industry internships.

- According to Forbes, Altman has amassed $1 billion. He and his husband have signed The Giving Pledge.
- East Bay SPCA is organizing its annual run with dogs, an opportunity to exercise and meet dogs up for adoption.
- The only cars on Main Street this weekend will be a range of beautiful parked classic cars.
- Enjoy food and crafts from around the world this Saturday.
- Each LVJUSD 3rd grader received one out of a possible three books selected by teachers and librarians.
- Three students from Danville are in the running to win the national competition.
