San Francisco Ambulance Stolen In Sunset District, Recovered In Oakland

Someone stole an ambulance in San Francisco Monday evening and led police on a chase down the Peninsula and into the East Bay.

San Francisco fire crews said their ambulance was stolen around 6:40 p.m. Monday while paramedics were responding to an emergency in area of 47th Avenue and Irving Street in the Outer Sunset.

California Highway Patrol officers pursued the ambulance through San Mateo and Alameda counties until the driver's recklessness forced them to quit the chase as the ambulance exited the freeway into Oakland.
