SF Cyclist Fatally Struck By SUV In Marin: CHP

The crash was reported at around 11:45 a.m. on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near White Hill Preserve, CHP Officer Darrel Horner said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A cyclist was killed near Fairfax late Saturday morning after being rear-ended by an SUV, the California Highway Patrol said.

Witnesses reported to authorities seeing the driver of a Honda SUV traveling eastbound on Sir Francis Drake veer into a shoulder hitting the cyclist from behind and knocking him to the ground, Horner said.

The cyclist was identified as Gregory Scott Chisholm, 58 of San Francisco, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division said.

Officers arriving on the scene found Chisolm on the ground and administered CPR before he was taken to MarinHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Horner said.

The Honda SUV overturned and came to a stop in the bottom of the ditch, Horner said.

The driver, a 41-year-old Forest Knolls man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, Horner said.

The driver cooperated with officers on the scene, Horner said.

Drugs or alcohol are not thought to be a factor in the accident, but the case remains under an investigation that will include the review of cell phone records.
