SF Hospital Lockdown Lifted After Bomb Squad Investigation: Update
San Francisco police asked residents to avoid the area of Cesar Chavez and Valencia streets after a suspicious package was found.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA- San Francisco police have determined a suspicious package found across the street from a hospital this morning is safe and are reopening streets in the area, police said.
The package was discovered at 9:52 a.m. on the north side of Cesar Chavez Street across from California Pacific Medical Center's St. Luke's Campus at 3555 Cesar Chavez St., police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan said.
The Police Department's bomb squad investigated the package.

Police asked people inside the hospital to shelter in place, which is standard protocol for a suspicious package investigation, Gatpandan said.
As of about 11:30 a.m., the package was determined to be safe and streets in the area were reopening.

Original post- Police activity has prompted the lockdown of a hospital in San Francisco this morning, city and fire officials said. City officials issued an alert at 10:46 a.m. asking residents to avoid the area of Cesar Chavez and Valencia streets because of police activity.
San Francisco's firefighters' union on Twitter said the nearby California Pacific Medical Center St. Luke's Campus at 3555 Cesar Chavez St. is locked down as a result of the police activity.
More details about the nature of the incident were not immediately available from police.
