SAN FRANCISCO — A San Francisco man faces up to 11 years in state prison after a jury found him guilty of breaking into and attempting to break into residences in San Francisco, announced San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins on Friday.

46-year-old Alberto Uc was found guilty on eight counts related to residential burglary, attempted residential burglary and possessing burglar tools.

"The jury's verdict delivers justice to the victims and holds Mr. Uc accountable," said Jenkins. "Serial burglars have a major impact on public safety as they have demonstrated that they will continue to engage in criminal activity until they are stopped and face consequences. The jury's verdict sends a clear message that San Franciscans are fed up with this behavior and will not tolerate it anymore."

Uc was first arrested on Feb. 5, 2021, when officers allegedly spotted him breaking into an Inner Richmond's house garage with a crowbar. Officers said Uc was found with multiple burglary tools in his possession. He was required to wear an electronic monitoring device as a result of the break-in.

Officers then located Uc via monitor on August 5, 2021, where he allegedly broke into a Laurel Heights apartment and inspected people's locked bicycles in the garage. Officers apprehended Uc and allegedly found multiple burglary tools on him again.

Officers also pointed Uc as the suspect of a Dec. 9, 2022 burglary in the Marina district. Officers said surveillance video showed Uc entering a residential garage and riding away on a resident's electric bicycle. He was found with burglary tools after officers arrested him an hour later, said officers.

A sentencing date for Uc has yet to be scheduled, said Jenkin's office.
