SFSU Student Goes Missing While Swimming At Pacifica Beach

PACIFICA, CA — Authorities are searching for a swimmer who was last seen in coastal Peninsula waters Thursday morning, Pacifica police said.

Officers and emergency personnel from the North County Fire Authority and American Medical Response at around 10:30 a.m. responded to Esplanade Beach on the report of a swimmer in distress, police said.

It was reported that three adult men had gone into the ocean, and while they were in the water one of them was struck by a large wave and pulled farther away from the shore, police said.
The two other men were able to exit the water and called 911 for assistance.

The man is in his 20s and is described as being 6-foot-1 and weighing 215 pounds with brown hair. He was last seen wearing black shorts.
No additional information was immediately available.
“We are aware of reports of a search for an SF State student in the waters off Pacifica,”SFSU said in a statement obtained by KRON.
“The entire SF State community is hoping for a safe recovery. Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends and classmates. We are grateful to the Coast Guard and the Pacifica Police Department for their ongoing work.”
