'St. Stupid's Day' Parade Coming To SF April 1st
St. Stupid's Day has celebrated April Fool's Day in San Francisco with silly costumes since 1979.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Wearing tinfoil hats, clown noses and all manner of costumery, a motley crew will parade through San Francisco on Tuesday in the 47th Annual St. Stupid's Day Parade.
The event was founded in 1979 by Berkeley resident Ed Holmes. Every year on April Fool's Day, a group of assorted pranksters gathers at noon at Embarcadero Plaza, then winds its way through the Financial District. The event is open to the public and there is no charge.
As the parade moves along, one favorite chant is, "I know, I know, but you know, you never know." Other activities include tossing pennies on the ground as a sort of tribute to the city's temples of commerce.

All are welcome at the event, and needless to say, it's free. In true countercultural fashion, more details are hard to come by, though there is a Saint Stupiders (yes, "Stupiders") page on Facebook and a plethora of videos on YouTube from past activities.
