Train's Founding Bassist, Grammy Winner, Dies After Shower Fall: Reports
A founding member of the San Francisco band Train died after slipping in the shower while housesitting for a friend, according to reports.
SAN FRANCISCO — Charlie Colin, the original bassist and founding member of San Francisco rock band Train has died after an accident overseas, according to multiple reports.
TMZ reported the death Wednesday, saying Colin's mother confirmed he died after he slipped in the shower while looking after a friend's house in Brussels, Belgium. According to TMZ, Colin had been living and working in Brussels as a music teacher and was in the process of finishing a soundtrack for an upcoming film.
Colin was part of Train's original five-man lineup when the band formed in San Francisco in 1994. He remained with the band through their first three studio albums and played bass on the smash hit "Drops of Jupiter," which earned a Grammy award and garnered the band international acclaim. He left the band in 2003.

Train mourned Colin's passing in a statement shared on social media Wednesday afternoon.
"His unique bass playing a beautiful guitar work helped get folks to notice us in SF and beyond," the band wrote in a Facebook post. "I'll always have a warm place for him in my heart."
