• Salinas man dies in fatal crash on San Juan Canyon Road (benitolink.com) — A 20-year-old Salinas resident died after a side-by-side off-road vehicle crashed into a tree on San Juan Canyon Road in San Juan Bautista on Dec. 12. Authorities say the driver lost control while turning; both occupants were belted, and investigators have not yet determined whether speed played a role or where the pair were headed.
