Marin County Fire Captain Jim Boggeri was featured on a KQED Plus (Public Television Channel 28) show called "This is Us: The Rescuers" on Jan. 28. The presentation profiles remarkable individuals living in Northern California — barrier-breaking individuals who make our lives special and who have influenced the world beyond.
"This is Us: The Rescuers" followed Boggeri as he put a ‘volunteer’ rescue canine, Nino, through his paces on a local training course. You can meet Boggeri and see what it's like to be a member of the Marin County Urban Search and Rescue team. Over the rubble, through the tunnel and down the ladder they go. It's all in a day's training for search & Rescue dogs such as Nino. In fact, it takes more than a year of training for a dog to become certified for this valuable-but-dangerous work.
“It takes a very committed human, like Marin County Fire Captain Jim Boggeri to teach a dog this lifesaving trick,” said Marin County Fire Chief Ken Massucco.
