More than 170 people attended the inaugural fundraiser for Reset Go, a new nonprofit whose program enables military veterans to re-enter civilian life with success.
Included in the audience were Susan Adams and Judy Arnold, Marin County Supervisors; Eric Lucan, Mayor, City of Novato; Damon Connelly, Vice Mayor, San Rafael; and Jean Mariani, Novato Sanitary District Board. Noah Griffin was the guest speaker, along with Brittany Becker, a recent graduate of the Reset Go program, and Sean Stephens, Marin County Veterans Service Officer.
The event was held in Joe Garbarino’s World War II U.S. Military Vehicle Museum in San Rafael. Surrounded by tanks, trucks, jeeps and other historic vehicles, the attendees enjoyed a hosted bar and an Italian feast, featuring homemade raviolis from the recipe of Joe Garbarino’s mother. The feast included antipasto misto, lemon marsala chicken, caesar salad with homemade croutons, and Italian bread pudding.
The event, underwritten by Joe Garbarino, and presented by Ann Moreno and Marilyn Spoja of Reset Go, netted more than $7,000. Funds will help support workshops, coaching and a private online support community to veterans who are ready to re-enter civilian life with success.
“This will enable us to give scholarships to veterans who can’t afford our program, and to pay for venues in which to hold the workshops,” Moreno said.
“It will give us the opportunity to do outreach to the veterans so that they can see how our program will be of benefit to them,” Spoja added. “It will also enable us to train our veteran graduates to become workshop leaders for future Reset Go programs.”
