Marin County Verifies Petitions To Remove Councilmembers In This Town
Each petition met the requirements for the minimum number of signatures.
FAIRFAX, CA — The County of Marin Voter Registrar completed its review of two petitions July 14 asking for the removal of two Fairfax councilmembers.
The voter-inititated petitions are asking to get a recall election on the ballot for Fairfax Town Mayor Lisel Blash and Vice Mayor Stephanie Hellman.
The petitions were originally filed with the Fairfax town clerk on June 30.

Marin County Elections Department staff completed signature review on July 11, notifying the Fairfax Town Clerk. The verified petitions were returned to the Town on July 14.
Both recall petitions for Hellman and Blash gathered enough valid signatures — 1,569 and 1,552 respectively — exceeding the 1,479 minimum to qualify for the ballot.

If enough valid signatures are gathered for a recall petition, the town clerk must certify it to the Town Council at their next regular meeting. The Council then has 14 days to schedule a special election.
The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 6.
