“We extend our love and deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones who are mourning. We know the pain is shared by the entire community,” the Town of Fairfax statement read.
California Highway Patrol said they responded to a report of a solo car crash at around 7:30 p.m. April 18 on San Geronimo Valley Road and found a Volkswagen SUV had struck a tree. CHP said three girls died at the scene, a fourth died at the hospital, and two remain in critical condition at the hospital.
Tara Taupier, the Tamalpais Union High School District superintendent, identified them as Archie Williams High School students. Olive Koren, a ninth grader, and Sienna Katz, Josalynn Osborn and Ada Kepley, all 10th graders, died in the collision, the supervisor said.
Laremont Stranczeck and Marley Barclay remain hospitalized. Straczeck is in critical condition and Barclay is reportedly stable but also listed as critical, police said. All occupants were between 14 and 16 years old.
Verified accounts have been set up for three of the victims, though more legitimate GoFundMe pages may exist, according to KRON.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Marin CHP office at (415) 924-1100.
