Fairfax Steers Residents To 100% Renewable Utility

Marin Clean Energy's Deep Green service provides 100 percent of its energy from renewable sources. It costs an extra five dollars a month.

FAIRFAX, CA —A utility that provides more than half its energy from renewable sources is a good first step.

Another option that offers 100 percent of its energy from renewable sources is better, and given the urgency of climate crisis, the town of Fairfax is urging residents and businesses to pony up a few extra bucks a month for Marin Clean Energy’s Deep Green service.

MCE’s regular service, the default provider, sources 60 percent of its energy from solar and wind power.

Deep Green costs an additional five dollars a month, the utility says on its website.

Fairfax officials say the push to get its citizenry enlisted on Deep Green will help the town meet its goal of reaching its Climate Change Action Plan of getting to zero emissions by 2030.
