Introducing the new San Anselmo-Fairfax Patch editor

Well, here we are. Allow me to introduce myself.

I’m Jessica Mullins, the new editor of the San Anselmo – Fairfax Patch site. 

I’m new to Ross Valley, but I am familiar with Marin. For nearly four years I was an editor at Marinscope Newspapers. I spent most of my time as editor of the Sausalito Marin Scope, writing about everything from adorable sea lions to visiting mega yachts to the Sausalito City Council’s slap squabble.

A bit of journalistic validation

I earned first place awards for coverage of local government and coverage of education, as well as other top honors for environmental reporting, “best front page,” and “public service” in the 2011 and 2010 statewide California Newspaper Publishers Association Better Newspapers Contest.

If I’m not working, you may find me …

• Dancing. I did ballet for more than 14 years but recently became obsessed with recreational dance classes in samba, afro-Brazilian and Latin dance. I was a regular at  in Fairfax, but I’m taking a hiatus from dance to recover from an injury. I’m hoping to be back on the dance floor this summer.
• Hiking. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like to be inside on a sunny weekend. Marin’s hiking options are endless – what an incredible place to live! Please don’t hesitate to share any trail recommendations.
• Traveling.  I spent a semester in Spain in 2007 and haven’t gotten rid of the travel bug since. I’ve been to 22 countries, but now I only cross oceans once or twice a year. I do, however, enjoy taking lots of weekend trips within the West Coast.
• Eating tapas. Living in the Bay Area has made me extra obsessed with food. Tapas are my favorite, but I’m looking forward to trying lots of San Anselmo and Fairfax restaurants. Anywhere I can’t miss? Please tell me in comments!
