Question from a reader: My six-year-old wants an allowance. Is that too young? How much is an appropriate amount? Do you adjust allowances as kids get older? Should an allowance be connected to doing chores around the house? I've heard that then teaches kids not to contribute around the house unless they get money for it -- has that been a problem for you?
