Three mothers were elected to the Ross Valley School District Board Tuesday night as the school community came out to support it's own.
Anne Capron lead with 28.9% of the vote, appointed incumbent Annelise Bauer took 27.4%, and Hadley Dettmer had 22.9%. Trevor Hughes, the only candidate who was not a current parent, won only 17.3% of the vote. Elizabeth Peacock, who withdrew from the race but whose name still appeared on the ballot, won 3.2% support.

"I'm super excited to work with them and look forward to the coming four years," said Capron.
Though the three new trustees didn't run as an official slate, their supporters largely crossed boundaries and frequently supported all three moms.

Dettmer said she had never met the other two before, but as they attended election events "it seemed like we would make a good team. We really respected each other."
Hughes found himself the odd man out, without a natural support base to fall back on.
"All of us have a pretty big prescence in the school community," said Capron, who has kids at and . Dettmer pointed out that with her kids at and Bauer a parent at , all the schools will now be represented.
The school district has a number of important issues facing it, with a shrinking budget as state funds dry up, increasing enrollment, new boundaries, a transition at Brookside to two K-5 schools and new construction happening in the next few years to address that increased enrollment.
With so many items on the board agendas in the coming months, Capron said what issues to tackle really isn't up to her. "It'll be told to me."
Dettmer, who turned to her friends and community to help run her campaign, thought her message of representation and listening resonated with voters.
"My message was that I would represent them and listen to them and not put my own views into it," said Dettmer.
Do you think the best people were elected? What issues do you want them to address first?

Welcome to San Anselmo-Fairfax Patch’s Election Night update for the Ross Valley School District board of trustees race.
It’s an exciting night for the candidates and their supporters, who have logged many hours on the campaign trail for the past few months. Congratulations to all the candidates — Annelise Bauer, Anne Capron, Hadley Dettmer, Trevor Hughes and Elizabeth Peacock, who pulled out of the race — for working so hard to state their platforms and for their willingness to serve in a mostly thankless capacity on our behalf.
This story will be updated and saved regularly until all precincts are reported by the Marin County registrar’s office. We’ll check in with the candidates to hear how they’re feeling about everything, and try to upload photos from campaign parties around town as they are sent in. Anybody with a camera at one of those get-togethers can send shots to kellyd@patch.com or upload them directly to this story.
