San Anselmo Man Sues, Alleging Police Tased Him During Seizure
The lawsuit alleges police used a Taser and arrested a man with epilepsy who was experiencing a seizure and awaiting medical care.
SAN ANSELMO, CA — A San Anselmo man has filed a lawsuit against the Central Marin Police Authority alleging an officer used excessive force and arrested him while he was experiencing a grand mal seizure in 2022, according to KTVU.
The station shared a copy of the lawsuit filed Wednesday in Marin County Superior Court, alleging financial planner Bruce Frankel, 61, was the victim of battery, false arrest and defamation.
According to the suit, Frankel's fiancée called 911 after he suffered a medical event in his bedroom on Aug. 29, 2022. The suit alleges the first officer on the scene saw Frankel stumbling around the room as he emerged from the seizure and assumed he was drunk before telling him to "stop resisting" and eventually tasing him, causing him to fall to the ground.
