San Anselmo Police: Caller Masquerades as Family and Wants Money, Cars Vandalized

Saturday, Jan. 15

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident received a suspicious phone call from an alleged family member requesting that she send money.

Department of Public Works Notification: A resident hit a street sign at Sir francis Drake Boulevard and Mountain View at 10:46 a.m. and knocked it down.

Suspicious Person: There was a man hitch-hiking on Butterfield Road at 11:15 a.m.

Petty Theft: A subject was taking recyclables from a dumpster on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

Grand Theft: A resident reported that someone took a run and lamps from their home on Cypress Road. She then called back to advise that she had located the missing rug.

Suspicious Circumstances: Two men were standing around an apartment building on Mariposa Avenue at 4:19 p.m. and then they were joined by two females.

Hit and Run: A resident on San Anselmo Avenue observed a car back out of a driveway, strike a parked van and then drive away at 7:45 p.m.

Fire: A woman had a fire in her oven while it was on a clean cycle. 

Noise: There was a loud party with music at Memorial Park at 10:12 p.m. Officers determined that the party was clearing out and confirmed the music stopped approximately ten minutes later than it should have.

Sunday, Jan. 16

Barking Dog: A dog has been barking in the area of Center Boulevard for some time at 2:33 a.m.

Petty Theft: A resident’s unlocked car was entered sometime between midnight and 9:15 a.m.

Vandalism: A rock was thrown through the back window and the antenna was torn off a car on Mountain View Avenue.

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident reported being followed by a man while she was walking her dogs on Crescent Road at 11:30 a.m.

Shoplifting: Two women took items from a shop on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard without paying and one of them pushed the employee as they were leaving.

Unwanted Subject: A resident reported that she didn’t want her nephew there on Scenic Avenue at 6:43 p.m.

Suspicious Circumstances: There were a bunch of cars with their motors running on Laurel Avenue at 9:10 p.m.
