What Not to Do: Call 911 to Ask About a Fire Outcome

The Fairfax Police Log for July 5-9 includes a threatening neighbor, teens throwing water balloons and a caller counseled on the proper use of 911.

 

Monday, July 9 

Pitbull running loose: Peri Park on Park Road. 9:24 a.m. A greyish colored pitbull is running loose on the tennis courts.

Abandoned vehicle: Scenic Road. 11:13 a.m. Anonymous reporting person reported a tan pickup that has been parked there for quite some time and has dust and leaves on it.

Water balloons: Center Blvd. and Pacheco Avenue. 2:18 p.m. Subjects in a red Saturn are throwing water balloons at passersby. Vehicle was last seen headed eastbound on Broadway in front of the theater several minutes ago. Reporting person believed it was occupied by three males and one female. They appeared to be teenagers.

Stolen bike/Found bike: Fairfax Police Department on Bolinas Road. 2:35 p.m. Caller had a bicycle stolen Saturday night which appears to match a bicycle found yesterday.

Suspicious person: Java Hut on Center Blvd. 6:48 p.m. Caller reported a subject in the drive-thru earlier, behaving oddly. The subject was in a truck, rolling back and forth within the drive-through and starting at them.

Assist: Drake Partners II apartment building on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 10:39 p.m. A subject hit two parked cars and his vehicle became inoperable. The caller said the subject looked as if he was trying to drive away from the scene.

Welfare check: Marin Alliance Merchandise. 11:43 p.m. Scenic Road. Reporting person noticed the listed subject began acting differently today after he passed out. Caller is concerned because he has been thinking irrationally and “different.” Reporting person requests a welfare check if he is located. He said he was headed to the Oak Manor 7-Eleven.

 

Sunday, July 8

Fire call: Laurel Drive. 3:32 a.m. Possible structure fire.

Fire call: Maple Avenue. 8:02 p.m. Caller reported a fire in a neighbor’s yard, advising she could smell smoke. On arrival, officers determined the source of the smoke was a barbecue.

Trespassing: Park Road. 8:09 p.m. Reporting person advised that 10 minutes ago a blond female in her 30’s, with two dogs on leash, walked on his property. He told her she was trespassing and she left. Reporting person doesn’t need contact and will call back if she returns.

911 misdial: Chester Avenue. 8:19 p.m. Same reporting person as prior fire call on 911, now asking for the outcome. Reporting person was counseled on proper use of 911 and advised to call a non-emergency line for such information.

 

Saturday, July 7

Disturbance: Bolinas Road. 12:39 a.m. Sounds of a male/female argument in the area.

Warrant arrest: Porteous Avenue. 7:28 a.m. Arrest made.

Bike theft: Spruce Road. 7:48 a.m. A bicycle was stolen from the residence, sometime between 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Bike theft: Frustuck Avenue. 9:31 a.m. Reporting person’s son’s bicycle was stolen sometime Friday night.

Suspicious circumstances: Good Earth on Center Blvd. 12:45 p.m. Roughly 30 minutes ago, caller noticed a subject, before he went into the premises, carrying bolt cutters. When the reporting person left the business he noticed his bike lock was cut 90 percent through.

Missing cat spotted?: Pacheco Avenue. 3:14 p.m. Reporting person has been missing her cat since June. Caller was told by her neighbor that he saw a woman pick up what looked like to be the reporting person’s cat and put it in her vehicle. Caller would like advice on what to do next.

Animal complaint: East lot at Good Earth on Center Blvd. 5:31 p.m. Dog locked in a vehicle with the windows up.

Barking dog: Pine Drive. 7:06 p.m. Reporting person wishes an officer respond to cite the dog owner due to ongoing problems with the dog there barking nonstop.

Noise complaint: Meernaa Avenue. 10:25 p.m. Reporting person said there’s an ongoing problem with the tenants at this residence making way too much noise. Today it is a party at the premise.

 

Friday, July 6

Spinout: Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 12:22 a.m. White pickup spun out and jackknifed. Somewhere at the base of White’s Hill.

Split tree: Frustuck Avenue and Willis Lane. 9:26 a.m. Large tree has split and is leaning toward the roadway and a house.

Man living under the Fairfax Plaza: Center Blvd. 12:37 p.m. Complaint of man who is living underneath the premises.

Vehicle accident: 7-Eleven on Bolinas Road. 1:41 p.m. Grey BMW and orange Chevy.

Animal complaint: Bolinas Road. 8:36 p.m. Reporting of a small blond dog running in and out of traffic.

Noise complaint: Meernaa Avenue. 9:21 p.m. Caller said her neighbor is playing live music way too loudly.

 

Thursday, July 5 

Unwanted subject: Broadway. 1:06 a.m. Subject was told to leave and refused. He’s a blading man in his 60’s and is starting to fight with people.

Criminal arrest: Post Office on Center Blvd. 7:57 a.m. Subject sleeping on the floor inside the business. Subject had a warrant. Arrest was made.

Garbage dumped: Ernst Kuehn Automotive on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 3:20 p.m. Garbage dumped on property. Someone saw the vehicle of the person who did it and wrote down the license plate.

Threats: Mitchell Drive. 6:47 p.m. Reporting person’s tenant called him and advised she is being threatened by her neighbor.

Insanity case: Frustuck Avenue. 10:50 p.m. Caller is concerned about a roommate’s erratic behavior.
