Chamber and Tanforan Partner to Bring 6th Annual Small Business Showcase

People will receive "passports," which can be redeemed for prizes for each business visited at the consumer showcase.

Have you ever wondered where all that trash from your house goes after the trucks pick it up from the curb? What about all that stuff from the recycling bins?

If those questions have every crossed your mind, you can talk to someone directly from the waste company Saturday during the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual and find out everything you’ve ever wanted to know.

Recology will be among 21 businesses (including this publication) participating in the event at The Shops at Tanforan. The showcase will give consumers a seat at the table with all of the businesses present so that each person can learn more about the company and what if offers locally. Prizes will be given out for each business someone visits at the event.

"This is a chance for our small businesses to connect with the public they serve," said Laura Baughman, CEO of the chamber.

For Recology, which services 12,000 homes and businesses throughout the city, the company has been trying to make residents more aware of recycling. The city has a 90 percent participation rate so far. So representatives will be explaining to people what they can trash and what they can recycle, said Kirsten Pinochi, general manager of Recology San Bruno.
