Kindergarten Registration Set to Begin

Only children whose fifth birthday falls on or before Nov. 1 will be able to enroll in kindergarten classes under new rules the state adopted.

Kindergarten registration begins Tuesday for the San Bruno Park School District.

Children must have been born on or before Nov. 1, 2007, to enroll.

New this year, however, is a different type of kindergarten program for the district.

For those born between Nov. 2 and Dec. 2, 2007, they will no longer be able to enroll in a regular kindergarten class. The district will be holding a small transitional kindergarten class for those children whose fifth birthday falls after Nov. 1, as now required by the .

The program is voluntary and will be held from 8:25 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the next to the district office.

Students will have a modified curriculum that is both age and developmentally appropriate, according to the district.

Registration packets and more information can be picked up at your child’s neighborhood school office.
