Learn How to Respond to Any Disaster With Free Class
The first class for the city's free Community Emergency Response Team training will begin April 24.

The city is offering residents another opportunity to learn life-saving skills with its upcoming .
Participants will learn basic emergency skills and learn how to be part of neighborhood response teams over a free 20-hour series of classes that will be taught at the San Bruno Resource and Recovery Center.
The first class begins Tuesday and focuses on how to prepare for a disaster and what to do after a disaster strikes. Other skills learned throughout the course include how to use a fire extinguisher, how to treat injuries and how to properly assess damaged buildings.

Students will also learn how to establish and participate in a chain of command.

All classes will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. at 458 San Mateo Avenue. The June 2 course—the hands-on session—will take place from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Fire Station 51.
