PG&E Facing 5 New Lawsuits for Pipeline Explosion
The lawsuits will likely be consolidated with the nearly 75 others that have been filed against the utility.

Five new lawsuits have been filed against PG&E for the Sept. 9 pipeline explosion.
The lawsuits were all filed May 31 in San Mateo County Superior Court and seek unspecified damages, alleging that Pacific Gas & Electric Co. should be held responsible for damage to their homes because of the fire and emotional distress from having to escape the Crestmoor neighborhood.
Among the plaintiffs are the Guernseys, the Diazes, the Jensens, the Kayeds and the Zapatas. They now join more than 150 people who have filed nearly 80 lawsuits as a result of the fire.

Lawyers began meeting with a judge in May to discuss how the lawsuits, consolidated into one case, will be handled.
The five new lawsuits will be included in the consolidated case, according to attorney Frank Pitre's firm, which is representing a number of the families.
