Peninsula City Promotes From Within For New Top Cop
Police Lt. Ryan Johansen has been with the San Bruno force since 2006
SAN BRUNO, CA — The San Bruno Police Department has promoted Ryan Johansen, a lieutenant from within the department, to be the city's newest police chief.
Johansen is replacing Ed Barberini, who was hired in November to be San Mateo's new police chief and took office there in early February.
Interim Chief Eric Wollman served in the position after Barberini's departure, but Johansen will take over next Monday.

A news release by the city manager's office announcing Johansen's hire said he has developed and implemented several programs within the department, including a grant-funded officer mindfulness training program.
