Students, classified staff and faculty are all invited to join a virtual book club reading In the Country: Stories, by Mia Alvar. We’ll meet three times in Spring to enjoy this highly acclaimed book of short stories, whose themes are centered on the FilipinX diaspora. While this is a non-academic book club, faculty are welcome to offer extra credit to students who join.

The first meeting will take place the week of March 21; more details will follow shortly. Please visit this Skyline College Library page to sign up, read reviews and learn more: bit.ly/IntheCountryAlvar. Several copies of the book are already available for you to borrow. Drop by the Library to check out a copy (no library cards required) or place a hold for later pickup. Book club members without time for reading may also choose to listen to the stories on audio.
