Treetops Renovation Finally Set to Break Ground
The $93 million renovation project is finally getting off the ground after the 308-unit apartment complex had sat vacant since 2005.
The developer of the Treetops project is finally set to begin with renovating the apartment complex, which has sat vacant for years and has irked residents in the surrounding neighborhood whom have longed for the day when theΒ eyesore gets a facelift.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. today atΒ 4300 Susan DriveΒ to launch the renovation project,Β Denver-basedΒ Apartment Investment and Management Co.Β said in an email.
TheΒ complex on the corner of Skyline Boulevard and Sharp Park Road has sat vacant since 2005, and it was supposed to get rebuilt more than a year ago. But when the housing market tanked, AIMCO asked the City Council for an extension to begin renovating the 308-unit complex.

In September, the company said was securing funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Representatives from AIMCO, the city, HUD and Red Capital Group are expected to meet at the site of the $93 million project for the groundbreaking. The new complex will also have a new name, Pacific Bay Vistas, shedding the stigma of the old Treetops apartments.
