Video: At the Center of Gas Explosion
The blast left a huge crater in the middle of Glenview Drive and destroyed 37 homes.
San Bruno Patch Editor Martin Ricard on Saturday got a glimpse of the neighborhood blasted by a gas explosion that erupted Thursday on Glenview Drive.
The blast ripped open a 167-by-26 foot crater in the middle of Glenview Drive and flung a large section of the ruptured 30-inch diameter natural gas pipeline out of the ground.
A large swath of the block was charred in the fire, and a number of homes have been left hollow or partially damaged. The area is still not safe for residents to return to their homes, officials say.
