Back To School Month Prompts Motorist Warning

SAN CARLOS, CA — August is Back to School Month, the city cautioned.

With that comes a heavy responsibility from students, parents and even drivers out negotiating the San Francisco Peninsula's busy roadways.

San Carlos Unified School District students started classes, so motorists may expect to see kids running across the street — sometimes without looking, especially if a ball is thrown, they're looking at an electronic device or a friend calls out to them.

To avert disaster, those behind the wheel need to live by the old adage: "expect the worst, hope for the best," when it comes to unaware children.
