Caltrain To Host Meetings About Plans With Increased Demand

With meetings starting this week, the transit agency is working on long-range plans to appease demand since it may go up by 300 percent

SAN CARLOS, CA -- Caltrain is hosting a series of community meetings on a business plan to define the long-term vision of the commuter rail system that connects San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

Long-range demand for Caltrain service could increase by 300 percent, with 243,000 daily riders by 2040, according to a recent update provided to the Caltrain Board of Directors. The Joint Powers Board approved the business plan's strategy and scope in February.

The community meetings are aimed to give the public an overview of the process and the opportunity to provide feedback.
