The agenda for the Regular Board Meeting on December 19, 2019 has been posted. Open Session begins at 7:00 pm in the District Board Room, 1200 Industrial Road, Unit 9b.

QUICK ABSTRACT/SUMMARY:

Mural Painting - Central Middle School (CMS): Students, staff and parents of the CMS community collaborated around the design and installation of a beautiful new mural on the back of the gym, acting as a brilliant backdrop for the outdoor stage in the quad. Artist, Florence de Bretagne, painted the murals on the Arroyo campus, and integrated the same colorful seed theme into the CMS mural. As a result of a student art contest, three winning student's ideas were integrated into the final design. Video produced by student, Juliette Jacobsen from video production class.

Video Production Program at CMS - Nick Lamb: Mr. Lamb has developed an elective course that challenges students to be involved in all stages of video design and production. Students produce a weekly news broadcast called The CMS Press, create motivational videos to support a positive school climate, and produce special project videos. Nick also oversees the student produced yearbook, creates the 8th grade end of year celebration promotion video and is part of the physical education team creating new 4th grade curriculum for the Arroyo students. Student, Ethan Politzer produced a motivational video to encourage students to set and work toward meeting their goals which is a focus for CMS students and staff this year.

Board of Education Trustee Eirene Chen - Oath of Office: Trustee Chen was elected to the SCSD school board and served from 2015-2019. She ran uncontested in the November 2019 election and has been certified by the San Mateo County elections office to begin her new five-year term from 2020-2025. We are appreciative of her dedication and service of the past four years and would like to express our gratitude for her continued leadership.

Board of Education Trustee Wendy Dougherty - Oath of Office: Congratulations and welcome to new trustee, Wendy Dougherty, as she joins our school board and takes her place at the dais tonight. Wendy was appointed by the SCSD board of trustees on October 21, 2019 and is beginning her five-year term.

COMMENTS/RATIONALE:

The Superintendent will recognize and celebrate outstanding performance, contributions, programs, events and successes throughout the San Carlos School District. This is an opportunity to shine a light on the great things happening and recognize the efforts of staff, students, parents and community members in a timely and public way.
