8-Foot Waves Possible Wednesday In San Clemente

San Clemente residents can expect dangerous swimming and surfing conditions through Thursday, the National Weather Service reported.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Big waves are coming to San Clemente, after the National Weather Service issued a Beach Hazards Statement across coastal Orange County through Thursday evening.

The Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday evening. According to officials, residents can expect breaking waves of four to seven feet and local sets to eight feet on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service warned residents against swimming or surfing in the dangerous conditions.

"Minor coastal flooding of low-lying areas will be possible during periods of high tide each evening," the National Weather Service said in a statement. "Remain out of water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions."
