Discuss Future Of San Clemente Energy Provider At Workshop Tuesday

Residents are invited to give feedback and learn more about potentially greener, less expensive energy options for San Clemente.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Members of the San Clemente City Council are considering whether or not to join a Community Choice Energy group to power the city at their next meeting on July 19, and residents are invited to a workshop on Tuesday to learn more.

If the city council moves forward with joining a Community Choice Energy group, it will join cities — likely Vista, Oceanside and Escondido — to form a joint power authority to purchase energy directly from power supplies rather than utility companies such as San Diego Gas and Electric.

According to a report published by the Orange County Register, joining an energy group such as this one could lead to greener energy use in the city and potentially lower rates to residents.
