El Camino Real Bridge Project Update: What San Clemente Residents Need To Know
San Clemente residents should plan for construction-related traffic around the El Camino Real Bridge while the project continues.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — While construction on the El Camino Real Bridge continues, the City of San Clemente issued an update to warn residents of possible construction-related delays.
Caltrans crews will continue to work day and night until the project's completion in June to finish upgrades for the project. Here's what San Clemente residents need to know:
- Construction hours range from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. through 5 a.m.
- Freeway lane closures will include some "occasional" detours onto city streets.
- El Camino Real will have several days where it will be reduced from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction.
- On-ramps and off-ramps may be closed during certain phases of the project.
- Residents could expect delays when traveling El Camino Real and the Interstate 5 Freeway.
The Caltrans bridge update includes falsework removal, joint seal replacement, freeway approach slab replacement and soil backfilling behind freeway abutments, the city said.
