Heat Wave Coming To Orange County, SoCal Region

Temperatures are expected to reach the high 80s from Thursday until Sunday across Orange County.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Another sweltering heat wave is headed to Orange County and all across the southwestern United States.

The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Watch from Thursday through Sunday to many desert communities, where some temperatures are expected to climb as high as 117 degrees Saturday.

The heat wave is on track to be the hottest of the season, National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Boldt told the Los Angeles Times.

In Orange County, temperatures will climb to 84 Thursday, and increase to 85 on Friday and 87 on Saturday, according to AccuWeather. Sunday temperatures are expected to cool down to 83.

In San Clemente, residents can except temperatures reaching 76 Thursday, and increase to 77 Friday. Temperatures will remain in the high 70s throughout the weekend.

Temperatures will drop slightly to 80 Monday, and remain in the low to mid 80s for the rest of the week - and likely the rest of the summer. Winds anywhere from 5-20 mph are expected during this period.

San Fernando Valley temperatures will be significantly warmer, with temperatures climbing to 96 degrees from Thursday through Sunday. The coast can expect temperatures in the upper 70s, with a high of 81 predicted Saturday.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged periods outdoors, and make sure to never leave pets or small children inside vehicles unattended.
