More Readers' Choice Winners

San Clemente Patch users have picked two more Readers' Choice spots: Surfin' Donuts for the best baked treats and Knuckleheads as the best spot to spend St. Patrick's Day.

Patch user waxed poetic about :

"The offerings from Surfin' Donuts and the Grill at Surfin' Donuts are light years beyond any of the other purveyors of deep-fried cholesterol bomblets available in SC," he said on the Patch comment board.

"The feathery, light interior dough is encased in a thin, crispy outer layer that results in an exquisite finished product, nothing short of an art form. Their apple fritters possess a crunchy outer glazed surface and are generously laced with apples and cinnamon."

Also in the winners circle: bar chalks up another victory (its partner enterprise, won best burger in February). Knuck's loyal fan base voted that bar the best place to spend St. Patrick's Day.

The tavern hosted the energetic punk outfit The Skeevies, and the music started at 4 p.m.

San Clemente's only ostensibly Irish pub, , finished a close second, but Knuckleheads was able to mobilize its loyal customers.
