'A Natural Leader': San Clemente Star Athlete

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Margaret Lane who nominated Tatum, a San Clemente. student. Lane is Tatum's coach and described her as a busy and dedicated student. Tatum isn't just a star on her swim team, she regularly volunteers outside of school, rides horses competitively and is a beach lifeguard.

Tatum is an excellent student taking all AP/IB Classes, she volunteers regularly outside of school and excels on the varsity swim team. She also rides horses competitively and is a beach lifeguard. Most importantly, Tatum is a natural leader and a role model to her team members. She is committed and dedicated, and also kind, honest, trust-worthy and has a positive attitude. She is an all-around outstanding human.
