The Pier Bowl to Get Surveillance Cameras

In response to ongoing vandalism, the pedestrian crossings of the rails at the Pier Bowl will get two new cameras installed.

Some artwork that was installed at the pedestrian train undercrossing at the San Clemente Pier was vandalized recently, prompting San Clemente City Council Tuesday to approve the installation of video surveillance cameras in the area.

"We've always had vandalism and similar problems in that are," said City Manager George Scarborough.

He said the cameras would be a good way to extend police prescence in the area without the extra expense of added patrols.
