SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Break out the sunscreen and turn on your ceiling fans, San Clemente — this weekend is going to be a hot one. The National Weather Service forecasted Santa Ana winds starting on Friday in Orange County, with bursts of hot gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour in foothill and inland valleys.

While Santa Ana winds are often blamed for increased wildfire risk throughout the state, a recent LA Times report stated that the high winds have something going for them: They really clear the air. According to the report, Santa Ana winds clear out the stagnant air that filters in from the coast before being trapped against the Santa Ana mountains.

San Clemente residents can expect temperatures in the high 80's for the coming weekend.

With that being said, this weekend might be a great chance for residents to load up their fold-out chairs and beach blankets to enjoy a late-season beach day.
